Mugur

Privacy policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

In short: your garden belongs to you. Mugur keeps your data on your device and in your own private iCloud. We don't run servers that store it, we don't show ads, and we don't track you.

This policy explains how the Mugur app for iPhone (“Mugur”, “we”, “us”), made by Apps of Steel, handles your information.

What Mugur stores, and where

Your plants, photos, notes, rooms, home details (name, city, country and coordinates), care tasks, care history and health checkups are stored on your device and in your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit, so they sync between your devices. This data is protected by your Apple Account. We cannot see or access it.

Sign in with Apple

Mugur uses Sign in with Apple. Apple gives the app an anonymous user identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address (which can be a private relay address). These are stored on your device and in your private iCloud only. We don't keep them on any server and we don't send you email.

Identifying and diagnosing plants (AI)

When you ask Mugur to identify a plant or check its health, the photo and any text you add, along with the room's light and climate details, are processed by Apple Private Cloud Compute. Apple uses this data only to fulfil your request and does not store it or make it accessible to Apple or to us. If Private Cloud Compute can't be reached, the request is processed on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence instead. Please don't include sensitive personal information in photos or notes.

Optional plant illustrations are created on your device with Apple Image Playground.

Location and weather

If you tap “Use my current location”, Mugur asks for your location once to find your city. You can type your city instead. Your home's coordinates are sent to Apple WeatherKit to fetch the local forecast, and place names are looked up with Apple Maps. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

Notifications

Care reminders are scheduled on your device. No reminder data is sent to us.

Deleting your account

In Mugur, go to More › Account › Delete account. Mugur deletes your data from your device and your private iCloud. To revoke Sign in with Apple, the app sends a one-time authorization code to our account-deletion service, which passes it to Apple and revokes the token. The service does not store the code or any other data. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may keep basic technical request logs for a short time.

What we don't do

Mugur has no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. We don't sell or share your data.

Children

Mugur is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your rights

Because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, you can view, edit, export or delete it at any time in the app or in your iCloud settings. If you have questions or want to exercise your rights under data protection law (such as the UK GDPR), contact us.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
